# Kariari Becomes Eventcord

## What is happening?

Kariari is being renamed as Eventcord (unofficially officially). No functionality will change.

## The bot is still named "Kariari" on Discord

Since this bot is verified, the username on Discord cannot currently be changed. Hopefully this will change in the future, but for now the name change is unofficial and official at the same time.

## Why?

Kariari was not descriptive of the bot's purpose and had a "weeby" (if I may) connotation, which may have distanced some users. Eventcord encompasses the bot's purpose in a simple manner.

## What will happen to the site?

All official Eventcord websites use [eventcord.xyz](https://eventcord.xyz). **Only use** [**eventcord.xyz**](https://eventcord.xyz)**.** Any other sites claiming to be Eventcord or Kariari are phishing.
